Trois morceaux en forme de poire - Erik Satie
Reduction for piano for two hands by Philippe Malhaire
The Trois Morceaux en forme de Poire is one of Satie's most emblematic works, and one of the most popular with the general public. It is true that "there is little music for four hands that gives the performers greater satisfaction," but Satie's music remains intimate: "Solitary listening was particularly appropriate for a composer like Satie, who, rather than targeting the undifferentiated audience of concerts, had always addressed himself, as it were, to one listener at a time. In order to give the pianist the pleasure of playing these "exquisite musics" for himself, it seemed interesting to propose a reduction for two-handed piano of the Trois Morceaux en forme de Poire.
