Live recital "Correspondances"
The presentation of the Fantasie op.17 (1835-36) by Robert Schumann (1810-1856) alongside the B Minor Sonata (1852-53) by Franz Liszt (1811-1886) is not based on the simple convergence of a romantic approach – which would in any case need to be stated explicitly – or indeed on a performer’s whim. The two works both have in common formal research, technical biases and aesthetical positions, which unite them considerably. A revealing factor ; the Fantasie is dedicated to Liszt and the Sonata in return is dedicated to Schumann.
