Accorgueon

The programme of this album is the result of very personal choices and is the fruit of a long-standing passion: most of the pieces performed on the album have accompanied me for many years, both as a performer and as a listener. I have always been fascinated by the power of the great organ repertoire, that I discovered at the same time as the concert accordion and its plethora of possibilities.

I wished, therefore, to devote this disc to adaptations of works originally composed and imagined for the organ, a distant cousin of the accordion. Indeed, the concert accordion has some 800 free reeds and 15 registers in the right hand (combinations of 4 different voices spread over 3 octaves), which can be compared to organ stops - in a much smaller version: it is therefore quite natural to want to draw inspiration from them!

I have chosen to propose a journey through different periods in musical history: from the baroque to the contemporary, via romanticism, from Pachelbel to Escaich. Moreover, this disc reveals multiple filiations between the organ and the accordion.
