L'Office des songes - Hector Cornilleau

Composed in August 2024 for the Ensemble des Équilibres, l'Office des songes is a suite of seven short pieces constructed as visions of dreams. The dream, certainly metaphysical, can be evanescent, fleeting or coruscating, but the interest of this piece lies in the organization and representation of the dreams. By arranging them in the form of an office, their almost liturgical, ceremonial fulfillment ensures both their unity and diversity, and outlines their possible functions. L'Office des songes is thus an act of the inner life, regulated and structured, but totally disconnected from the material contingencies of conscious life and any form of externalization. As we embark on this intimate journey, the word “office” takes on a new semantic meaning, that of the task we must accomplish, for ourselves and within ourselves.
